anatomy
Child, an accident shattered Basquiat’s life—a damn showdown with a car in the gritty streets of Manhattan. His guts were shaken, chest in pieces, a rib waltzing with a fracture, and a lung serenading with perforation. This event dealt a significant blow to his dreams of urban graffiti.
Deep in his hospital trip, Basquiat receives a gift from his old lady— “Gray’s Anatomy,” an illustrated medical manual. Not the whole deal, but more like the “Gray’s Anatomy for Students” version. It seriously marked the kid. Anatomical drawings fascinate him, and now he’s tossing bones, organs, and all the skeletal mess onto his canvases.
Patterns of things that live and die within us become his damn signature. Life slipping away, death quietly laughing, all right in the heart of his artworks. This “Gray’s Anatomy” book didn’t heal him, but it damn well transformed him. A crazy imprint, a style of his own, steeped in the damn fragility of life, the moans of mortality, and human abyss.

EMIR KUSTURICA : ARIZONA DREAM
Arizona Dream is a unique film that transports us into a world where dreams and reality intertwine in a poetic and disconcerting way. Directed by Emir Kusturica in 1993, this film is a dreamlike exploration of human aspirations and disillusions, brought to life by an exceptional cast including Johnny Depp, Jerry Lewis, Faye Dunaway, and Lili Taylor.
The story begins with Axel Blackmar (Johnny Depp), a quiet young man who works for the New York Department of Fish and Game. His life takes a radical turn when he is invited to join his uncle Leo (Jerry Lewis) in Arizona for his wedding. Axel finds himself plunged into a surreal and offbeat universe, where he meets two women with opposing yet equally fascinating personalities: Elaine (Faye Dunaway), an eccentric widow obsessed with aviation, and her stepdaughter Grace (Lili Taylor), a tortured young woman who dreams of being reincarnated as a turtle.
Arizona Dream is a bittersweet reflection on unfulfilled dreams and deep desires. Kusturica presents us with a mosaic of improbable and magical scenes, where the boundary between the possible and the impossible fades away. The soundtrack, composed by Goran Bregović and featuring tracks by Iggy Pop, enhances this strange and hypnotic atmosphere.
The film is a journey through the human soul, exploring themes of self-discovery, gentle madness, and escape. Kusturica, with his unique style, manages to capture the beauty and sadness of life, paying tribute to those who dare to dream, even in the middle of the Arizona desert. Arizona Dream is an ode to imagination and freedom, an invitation to look beyond the visible and embrace the unexpected
