Tears for Fears is an iconic British band formed in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Following the massive success of Songs from the Big Chair, the band took several years to release a new album, The Seeds of Love, in 1989. The single “Sowing the Seeds of Love” became an anthem for the 1980s generation, and other tracks like “Woman in Chains” (featuring singer Oleta Adams) and “Advice for the Young at Heart” reaffirmed the band’s talent for blending personal and social themes with irresistible melodies.

However, despite the critical and commercial success of The Seeds of Love, internal tensions began to surface, leading to Curt Smith’s departure in 1991. Roland Orzabal continued under the Tears for Fears name, releasing two albums in the 1990s, Elemental (1993) and Raoul and the Kings of Spain (1995). While these albums enjoyed moderate success, they failed to replicate the impact of their earlier works.

In 2000, Orzabal and Smith reconciled and rediscovered their creative chemistry. Their reunion led to the release of the album Everybody Loves a Happy Ending in 2004, a record that revisited the lush pop sounds of the 1960s while exploring new musical territories.

After a long period of silence, Tears for Fears made a strong comeback in 2022 with the album The Tipping Point, which was hailed by critics as a return to form.
